More blog pagesHireKai design review: how the homepage is built
The HireKai homepage, branded Kai on the page, runs about 11,166 pixels on desktop. It opens with a centred hero and video frame, then a logo strip, one tall rounded panel of four feature rows, a pricing card, an audience accordion, a question list, an illustrated closing banner and a four-column footer. A cream ground (#ece8d9) carries near-black text and one green (#4fa55b) on buttons. Headlines use a heavy serif, Erode, against Inter. Distinctive for its category: hand-drawn line illustrations, a handwritten green second line and hard black button shadows.
Above the fold
A cream bar with a thin black rule holds the small green Kai logo, five labels ("What I can do for you", "Who it's for", "Integrations", "Pricing", "Resources") and a shadowed green "Start free" pill. The heavy serif headline fills two lines above a one-sentence subhead, one centred "Start free" button and "No credit card required". A laptop-style video frame follows, captioned "Available on Web, Mac, iPhone and Android."
Logo strip and the first-person feature panel
"Built by the team behind morgen" sits above a row of logos, including "ETH zürich". A line drawing leads into a rounded panel headed "An assistant costs $6,000 a month." with the handwritten green line "I start free.". Rows alternate text and video: "I take your meeting notes.", "I draft your inbox.", "I keep your tasks on track." and "I run your calendar." Each has two bullets, small tabs such as "Before" and "After", and an arrow link like "Explore Email".
Pricing card and audience accordion
Seven tool icons under "WORKS WITH THE TOOLS YOU ALREADY USE" end the panel. A drawing of a face peeking over a rounded card introduces "Try Kai today" with "Free until I've earned it." in handwriting, a price, a "Start free" button, a "See what's in it" link and eight check items. "You'll love me" opens an accordion: "Founders & Executives" is expanded beside an illustrated card, over "Teams", "AI Nerds" and "ADHD".
Questions, closing banner and footer
"Still have questions? We've got answers." sits over four icon tabs and seven collapsed question rows ending in a green "Contact us" button. The closing banner is a rounded card with a blue illustration of a man asleep on a sofa, "Go be human...", the handwritten "I'll handle this." and one more "Start free". Four italic-headed link columns, "Product", "Who it's for", "Resources" and "Company", plus a "Compare" group, form the footer.
On mobile
At 390px the logo row wraps into a tight two-column cluster and the hero video becomes a phone-shaped window. Feature rows stop alternating and stack as heading, bullets, tabs and video. A four-card section titled "How Kai takes the job." appears as stacked bordered boxes with icons. The pricing card runs full width, and the four accordion tabs collapse into one dropdown.
Worth borrowing
- First-person feature headings such as "I draft your inbox." make the product read like a hire.
- A hand-lettered green line, "I start free.", sits under a heavy serif headline exactly where the price claim lands.
- An illustrated "Go be human..." card makes the final "Start free" button feel like a reward.
