Gumroad
gumroad.com/
Gumroad is a marketplace and payment platform that lets creators sell digital products - courses, ebooks, brushes, templates - directly to buyers, handling payment processing and delivery. Its hero copy, 'Go from 0 to $1,' deliberately frames the pitch around the smallest possible first success rather than big income promises, reinforced by copy contrasting a risk-averse instinct ('Don't take risks. That's scary!') with starting small (selling a blog post instead of a book). The homepage displays a live-feeling running total - $2,030,122 earned by creators in a single week - and profiles four named creators with specific monthly or annual earnings figures rather than aggregate platform statistics, alongside a scrolling catalog of 40+ product categories like Blender assets and meditation content.

More blog pagesGumroad design review: how the homepage is built
The page runs top to bottom as a navigation bar, a centred hero ringed by floating pink coins, a bento grid of white cards, a looping yellow track diagram, a giant earnings figure, four testimonial cards, a strip of tag pills, a pair of risk-versus-bet cards, a closing call to action over a park illustration and a black subscribe footer. It is 7903 pixels tall. The ground is off-white with black type, and the illustrations are built from pink #fe92ea, teal #26a398 and yellow. The display typeface is ABC Favorit. Hand-drawn characters replace product screenshots almost everywhere.
Above the fold
The bar holds the logo with a GitHub star badge, six links from "Discover" to "Gumclaw" with "About" highlighted in a black pill, then "Log in" and a black "Start selling" block. The headline "Go from 0 to $1" is set very large on one line. Below it, a black "Start selling" button sits beside a search field reading "Search marketplace ...". Five pink coins stamped with a letter G float around the text.
Bento grid of four cards and two stories
A wide "Sell anything" card shows a ukelele course mock, and a narrow "Make your own road" card shows a chart with "$201,083". The next row pairs "Sell to anyone", with three checkmark rows, and "Sell anywhere", with app icons beside a storefront mock. Two circular illustrations close the grid, captioned "Instead of building a company..." and "...start selling a side project!".
Track diagram, income counter and testimonials
A yellow racetrack loop carries four labels, "The Gumroad Way", "Start Small", "Learn Quickly" and "Get Better Together", around a pink character. Under "We want you to try them, lots of them, and find out what works." a black "Find out how" button leads to the figure "$2,066,926" in enormous type. Four white quote cards in two columns follow, credited to "Max Ulichney", "Steph Smith", "trendsvc" and "Daniel Vassallo".
Tags, closing call and footer
"Unlimited possibilities" introduces three rows of rounded pills such as "blender", "meditation" and "notion template" running off both edges. Two phrase cards, "Don't take risks. That's scary!" and "Place small bets. That's exciting!", flank two illustrations. "Share your work. Someone out there needs it." has a black button above a wide park scene. The black footer pairs an email field and pink arrow with two link columns and five social icons.
On mobile
At 390px the hero keeps the headline on two lines, stacks the black button above the search field, and crops the coins at the edges. The bento cards run in a single column. The yellow track becomes a square frame with labels on its four sides. Testimonials stack one per row, the tag pills are cut off at the right edge, and footer links split into two columns.
Worth borrowing
- A single outsized figure, "$2,066,926", placed alone between sections serves as proof before any quote appears.
- Pairing "Don't take risks. That's scary!" with "Place small bets. That's exciting!" turns a two-card layout into a one-line argument.
- Floating branded coins around the hero text give the opening a playful frame without any product image.
