Railway

railway.app/

Railway is a cloud infrastructure platform for deploying applications, databases, and background jobs from source code or templates, with Railway handling builds, networking, and monitoring. The page reached (agent-facing documentation at the root URL) skips a conventional marketing hero entirely and opens instead with setup instructions addressed to AI coding agents: installing the CLI, configuring MCP access, and running "railway up -y" as the fastest deploy path. It lays out a mental-model hierarchy of workspace, project, environment, and service, and includes an explicit instruction not to "hand the user off to a manual login or web signup for a deploy request." There are no customer logos, testimonials, or stats on this page — it reads as operational reference material rather than a sales page.

Railway's landing page, section by section

Each section below is cropped straight from Railway's live page — useful references for engineering & infrastructure landing page design.

Railway design review: what the page does, section by section

The home page runs about 12,180px at 1440px wide and stacks a nav bar, a painted-sky hero, a customer logo grid, four numbered feature chapters on a vertical timeline, testimonials, a departure-board stats block, a closing train-door call to action and a footer. Backgrounds sit near #0d0c14, with #553f83 on the primary button, #291839 and #563b48 as tinted panels, and #463a15 behind amber warning cards. Headlines use IBM Plex Serif; body text and interface labels use Inter. The distinctive move for infrastructure software is the railway metaphor: a miniature train rides the timeline and the stats are flip-board digits.

HeroesView crop

The hero centres "Ship software peacefully" in serif type over a dusk mountain illustration. Two buttons follow, "Deploy →" in purple and "Agents" in outline. A dashboard mockup shows "backend" and "postgres" nodes, two amber memory alerts, and a tab bar reading "Deploy", "Network", "Scale", "Monitor", "Evolve".

FeaturesView crop

Four chapters hang off a vertical line, each opened by a coloured tag such as "Network and connect". Each holds a serif headline, "Learn more →", an illustration, three icon-led benefits and an "Alternative to" row of tool icons. The last chapter shows stacked environment cards labelled "production", "pr-112" and "pr-115".

Pricing & PlansView crop

The pricing page opens with "Pay only for what your app uses, by the second", then a "Free" strip and three tiers: "Hobby" at $5, "Pro" at $20 on a purple-lit card, and "Enterprise" Custom. A four-column "Compare features" table with green checks follows, then four spend rows from $1,000 to $10,000 and an eleven-question FAQ.

About UsView crop

The about page starts with "About Railway" and two cards, "Our mission ..." and "Our vision ...", each with a transit-map graphic. "Meet the train crew" is a three-column grid of about 45 portraits with role, flag and social icons. "Our investors" lists 18 people in four columns, each tagged with a company.

Affiliate pagesView crop

The affiliate page opens with "Affiliate program" beside violet outline coins. Three cards, "Sign up for Railway", "Share your unique link" and "Earn cash", carry coloured icons and pill buttons. A two-by-two requirements grid precedes a huge "15%" figure, eight FAQ items in two columns, and a boxed "Ready to start earning?" closer.

Careers pagesView crop

The careers page leads with "Redefine the future of infrastructure", then a company history in purple-to-pink gradient text. "Our values" shows four cells and "Perks and benefits" eight tinted cards. A photo mosaic precedes "Open positions", grouped under "Infrastructure", "Product", "Logistics" and "Design", each row marked "Remote (anywhere)".

FootersView crop

The footer pairs a left "Featured" column of two bordered notices, including "Mobile app is now available for iOS", with six link groups: "Product", "Compare", "Contact", "Resources", "Company" and "Legal". Compliance badges sit lower left. A base row carries the logo, an amber "Ongoing incident" link and the copyright line.

On mobile

At 390px the page runs about 13,419px and multi-column blocks collapse to one column. The logo grid shrinks to two columns and the hero dashboard mockup is absent. Feature benefits stack vertically with illustrations moved below the text, footer links fall into two columns, and the testimonial strip stays a sideways scroller. Text stays readable and the captures show no blank areas.

Worth borrowing

  • Tint each feature chapter with its own panel colour and tag, as the teal "Monitor and observe" block does, so scrolling signals progress without extra dividers.
  • Turn the usage numbers into a flip-board with labels such as "USERS" and "DEPLOYMENTS", which makes a plain statistics block read as part of the brand metaphor.
  • Follow each feature with an "Alternative to" icon row, which names the displaced tools visually without adding comparison copy.
