Icepanel
icepanel.io/
IcePanel is a browser-based tool for building and maintaining software architecture diagrams using the C4 modeling methodology, pitched as a single source of truth replacing scattered diagrams. The headline "Model your architecture for humans and agents" pairs technical diagramming with newer agent-facing positioning. Trust signals are dense for a tool this specific: Y Combinator backing, logos from Cisco, BMW, and Cambridge University, and a carousel of 17 attributed testimonials from named Principal Engineers and CTOs, alongside SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR badges. The tone is notably informal for enterprise software, with copy like "no added bull" and a dedicated comparison section naming Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, and Structurizr directly.

More blog pagesIcepanel design review: how the homepage is built
The IcePanel homepage is 9,870 pixels tall and splits into two moods. The top is a bright cyan sky over an illustrated iceberg with polar bears, an igloo and an astronaut, and below that the page turns near-black for everything else. Order is nav, hero, grayscale logo row, a statement with three illustrated cards, a product diagram, feature lists, a demo video, a testimonial strip, a closing prompt and a link-heavy footer. Cyan, #02addb, and navy, #15416b, carry the hero. IBM Plex Sans handles headlines and IBM Plex Mono the small labels.
Cyan hero with iceberg illustration
The header carries the IcePanel cube logo, nav items "Product", "Integrations", "Resources", "Pricing" and "Contact", then "Log in", "Book a demo" and "Sign up". The headline sits top left on the cyan sky, followed by a two-line subhead and two buttons, "Start for free" and "Read about The IcePanel Loop". A "Backed by" line with the Y Combinator mark follows. A diagram box labelled "Our system" floats above the iceberg.
Logo row, source-of-truth cards and product diagram
The sea fades to black, where a grey logo row leads into "Turn scattered diagrams to a single, trusted source of truth". Three rounded dark cards follow, titled "Architecture design workflow", "Modelling keeps diagrams in sync" and "A view for each audience". A large white diagram viewer follows. Under the mono label "Simple design", "Accelerate your design process" lists "Drill down", "Current vs future design" and "Message flows".
Design-first panels and testimonial strip
A mono label reads "Design first process" above "Design systems like you build them". Cards titled "Current vs Future", "Feedback" and a wide "Merge" panel sit above three short columns, "Phase", "Collaborate" and "Dynamic views". "Architects think we're cool" opens a scrolling row of quote cards, such as "I don't need a girlfriend anymore" and "Made us win last year", each with a job title pill.
Tone section, closing prompt and footer
"We believe in simplicity" is followed by a grey "No added bull" with an emoji, then three illustrated cards: "Designed for architects", "Simplify complexity" and "Lightweight by design". A centered "Is IcePanel for your team?" has a white "Start modelling free" button, a dark "Talk to a human" button and a handwritten "Stay chill". The footer has four columns, "IcePanel", "Compare", "Find us" and "Company" and end with a Canadian-flag line.
On mobile
At 390px the nav collapses to the logo, a "Sign up" button and a hamburger icon,. The illustration is cropped, so only the polar bear, igloo and astronaut remain. The three cards become a horizontal carousel with the second card cut off, and the feature columns scroll sideways. Panels stack at full width, the footer drops to two columns, and the closing buttons stack.
Worth borrowing
- An illustrated iceberg above and below the waterline makes the hero a metaphor for hidden architecture, not a screenshot.
- Switching from a bright cyan sky to a near-black page after the hero separates the pitch from the product detail.
- Playful lines such as "No added bull" and "Stay chill" give a technical tool a distinct voice.
